When you want to design a modern, functional interior, corners with angles above 90° often present a challenge… but in fact can become a true asset when fully utilized. Thanks to made-to-measure furniture, it is now possible to create solutions perfectly tailored to these atypical configurations. Here are a few inspirations for imagining a unique corner unit—harmonious, distinctive, and designed for day-to-day living.
The double-sided corner unit: structure and optimize your space
The tall double-sided corner unit is one of the most ingenious ways to make the most of a corner opening of more than 90°. Not only does it maximize storage, but it also helps structure a space without fully closing it off.

A 2-in-1 unit for modern spaces
On one side, you have cupboard doors with push-to-open systems, providing a clean, contemporary look. On the other, there’s a built-in bench, perfect for entryway seating, a relaxation spot, or as a seamless transition between living areas.

Designing this custom room divider
Using the DessineTonMeuble 3D configurator, our client was able to design a custom room divider featuring an angle greater than 90°, ideal for structuring the space, creating an entryway, and naturally guiding movement toward the living room.
He first created two linear units:
-
on the left, a unit with an integrated bench,
-
on the right, a unit with drawers, shelves, and cupboard doors.
Both units were designed to be accessible from both sides, serving as a true room divider.

To connect the two modules and form the open angle, the client then designed triangular shelves directly in the configurator, positioned between the two units. This solution optimizes the available space while maintaining a cohesive look.
The result: a custom-made, highly functional piece perfectly adapted to its space, showcasing the full flexibility of our 3D configurator.
Ideal uses for this type of unit
-
Open entryways leading into the living room
-
Studios that require a light, unobtrusive partition
-
Large spaces to be divided into two living zones
-
Unique areas where standard furniture just won’t fit
This type of configuration lets you maximize both function and visual appeal.
The low corner TV unit: flexible, clever arrangement
Corners with angles greater than 90° are also perfect for a custom-designed TV unit, crafted to fit the specific geometry of your room. This solution combines style and practicality with a simple principle: two low units partially overlapping to create a harmonious angle.

A design with meticulous details for a 100% bespoke look.
To address a challenging room layout, our client designed a clever TV unit tailored to fit a corner above 90°. The solution is based on two independent modules, designed to precisely slot together with no hardware at the axis. This smart approach ensures stability, flexibility, and creative freedom, while preserving a sleek visual impact. The furniture adapts perfectly to architectural features of the space, proving how made-to-measure design can turn a challenging constraint into a genuine decorative and functional asset.

This configuration allows you to:
-
create a continuous surface for your TV,
-
add easily accessible storage,
-
bring dynamic visual appeal to the living room,
-
make the most of a space that is too often left unused.
Finishes that enhance the character of your space
For a corner unit above 90°, the finishing touches should enhance the shape of the furniture and integrate seamlessly with your interior.
Opt for a cohesive look
When the unit is sizeable (tall double-sided, room divider), choosing a finish similar to that of the walls or flooring creates a smooth transition and prevents the corner from becoming overwhelming.
This ensures softer spatial flow, especially in open-plan areas.
Create a distinct functional zone
For a low corner TV unit, a slightly contrasting finish helps to visually define the media area.
This effect can be achieved by a simple change in texture—matte, structured, veined, smooth—rather than by color alone.
